Friday’s Joy

Happy friYAY friends!

I am linking up with Andrea and Erika today; I am looking forward to reading your posts!

Whew! What a week! I originally intended to give you an update on my week and then share some links, what I am looking forward to and my posts from the week BUT as I started to write this post on Wednesday, it stated out as a “I need to give myself grace and not put so much pressure on my self because you didn’t write anything and I feel like I am falling behind” kind of post. By Thursday afternoon, it turned into “You are living out what you used to dream of Gab, you can’t do it all and that’s okay. Look at what you are able to do now” kind of post. Quite a turnaround right? Even the title of this post went from Grace to Friday’s Grace to Friday’s Joy.

Let me explain further:

I have been really enjoying all the different activities I signed up this month. I decided to really put myself out there this month and try a bunch of different things and see what sticks and what doesn’t. I had always intended to keep up a strict schedule for WGJ along with these activities. It hasn’t worked out that way these last two weeks; WGJ has fallen to the wayside along with my oomph to sit down and write. I guess it’s a tradeoff because I am living life outside of the computer and trying new things.  During those years when I was really sick- you know in the thick of the unknown with my Crohn’s Disease- all I wanted to do was normal things like going to the gym, taking a class, trying something new. NOW here I am, 6 years later and I am doing exactly what I always wanted to do.

As I go into my (35th) birthday weekend, I have the feelings of gratitude, happiness, joyfulness and thankfulness that I am feeling better, I am able to do all these things (and more!) and still have energy to burn. 27 year old Gabby is jumping up and down with excitement to see that we are here in this very moment.

I bet you are wondering what I have been so busy doing right? WELL I’ve been taking yoga classes, climbing, took an adult craft class, took a beginner Circut class, going to the gym, helping my parents around the house, taking time for myself and other random things that are making me really happy.

I’ve had a song stuck in my head since the beginning of the week and its been “Til You Can’t by Cody Johnson.” If you haven’t heard it yet, you can watch his Opry performance below. The gist of the song you can do something, until you can’t…. do that damn thing NOW so you don’t regret not doing it.  I think that is what I am doing now- doing the damn thing.

So while this week’s Friday favorites looks a bit different, I am beyond happy and joyful for this realization that leaning into things that are different can be really good. You can’t do everything and while things may fall to the wayside temporarily, you can always go back to them, at some point.  Everything that is meant for you, will come to you (or come back to you) in the right time.

I am here to tell you…. that thing you have been wanting to do and has been on your mind for while, DO IT. There is no better time than the present.
