Hello! It has been a while since I have done a Friday Favorites and to tell you the truth, I have really missed it! This is a great way to build community and share the silly, little things I find during the week. As usual I am liking up with Andrea and Erika and looking forward to reading your posts too! 😃
This week was pretty awesome. Monday was Memorial Day, Tuesday I had off to do errands (DMV, Identigo, a doctors appointment and dinner out) and work flew by Wednesday through Friday. I always feel when I have a shortened week, It makes me more focused and ready to get all the things on my to do list done. On Wednesday I jumped right back in and got what I thought was an endless to do list pretty much done, even with a few random things thrown in.
Kyle comes home tomorrow and I am picking him up! I missed him and Peneolpe so much! I cannot wait to hear all about the stories and not do math when I look at the clock to figure out what time it was in Norway.
Here are a few things that were on my mind this week
1// Away Carry-On
I finally hit the purchase button on a new piece of luggage. I have been looking at the Away Travel brand since 2018 and back then ultimely decided not to order it. Fastfoward to 2022 and while my parents and I pulled out some old luggage, most of them disentergrated/fell apart/was not sturdy enough to use for travel, I took this as the perfect opportunity to look into Away again. I settled on “The Carry-On” in lavender. This might be a pricier purchase for my upcoming vacation but a 100 day trial period and lifetime guarentee makes it a little easier to digest. I cannot wait to give my full review on this carry-on after my trip. Did I mention, I have a $20 off code if you have been thinking about purchasing Away luggage too! Click here for it to be added to your order.
2// Espresso
This is a bit of a random one. I was never really a coffee drinker and a few years ago, an old boyfriend introduced me to Americanos from Starbucks. They were good, I didn’t go out of my way for them but if I happned to be around a Starbucks, I would get one. Flash foward to 2022, I fell back in love with them and have been drinking them almost daily. Now I quickly realized that this coffee habit I was creating was very expensive. I looked in the foodstore for expresso that I can make at home in the Kurig. The foodstore did not let me down, so. many. options. I opted for the instant Expresso from Ferrara. I figured this would be good because their cannolis are good. HA! The price for the jar which gets me about 2.5 weeks of drinks (14ish cups of expresso) for the price of one Starbucks drink. Well 4 jars later, I am hooked. Its so good and simple AND the best part is, I drink it black so no need to worry about trying to figure out what milk/creamer I should put in it becuase #latoseintolernce.
3//Nerdle and Hurdle
I am pretty sure I am one of the last people who still play Wordle each morning. I sometimes find myself during the day looking for a quick game to play to distract me a bit. I found two that somehow even though they infuriate me daily, I enjoy playing them. Its like a workout for my brain. Nerdle is wordle with math problems. HA! 12 year old me would be laughing right now if she heard I play with math problems for fun. Hurdle gets me mad every so often BUT once you get a ‘hurdle’ its kind of addicting. These two games are just like Wordle, one game every day and its the same for everyone. Kyle and I will share Wordle and Nerdle scores with each other sometimes but most of the time, I do it just to keep my mind strong.
4//Book Break
I have been struggling for the past month to really dive into a book and enjoy it. The last book I was reading/listening to was Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson and it was really good but my mind was everywhere but where it should have been. I decided for June that I will take a break from reading. I’ve noticed this happens, every once in a while; I get book fatigued; there are so many great books out there but there is also so much I want to do too. Its a delicate balancing game that I’ve realized I cannot do everything AND thats okay. Hopefully in July, I will feel refreshed and ready to jump back into reading again. Towards the end of the month, I will be posting my 2nd quarter book reviews.
5//Youtube
I might be late to the game with this one but I have been loving watching videos on Youtube. Thanks to my mom and Kyle, they both finally convinced me to take a look at and use Youtube for entertainment reasons. I’ve had a youtube account since 2007. Have I used that account since 2007, nope but I am slowly getting more into it and finding videos to watch. I am open to suggestions- leave your favorite youtubers in the comments.
Bonus///
TSA Pre-Check
I have literally been talking about this to everyone this week. I am so impressed how quick and easy this was to get. I had NO idea that for about $17 a year, you can almost fly through airport security and be on your way WITHOUT taking off your shoes and taking the liquids out of the bag.
The whole process of getting it was super easy too! Fill out the online application and then make an appointment at Identigo to get your fingerprints and passport scanned. I was in Identigo for 10 minutes at most and the application took me less that a half hour. I am currently waiting on my Known Traveler Identifcation Number which they said would take about a week.
If you are going to be traveling even once a year, this is totally worth it. Once you are approved, its good for FIVE YEARS! This is a no-brainer. YAY! I cannot wait to put it to use in July for my vacation. Look for more vacation content today and every Friday through July.
Thanks for catching up with me today! I am so happy to be back to Friday Favorites!

ps. All the links you see in today’s post are NOT sponsered. The only link that would provide me any gift would be the Away $20 off link. If you use that link, I would also get $20 for my next purchase. I am not sponsered by them in any way. Anyone can get a refer a friend link, it it is located on their website. I am just sharing it because I love to save money and I figured you would too!
