Hi friends! I am linking up with Erika and Andrea today! I cannot wait to read your posts!
What a week! Today start the first of 4 Fridays off for me. It’s like an extra treat for me. Ha! Work has definitely picked up- end of the year wrap up stuffs and then changing banks and all that involved which is a lot! BUT I do feel more confident this year with some of the wrap up items and the banking documents this year.
One thing I have been totally surprised by this week is how well I have been sleeping AND how well I have been focusing at work. I think in this case there have been a few things that really have been helping to let me have the best night sleep.
1. Drying my hair at night after washing it has been helpful styling it in the morning and I am not SO SO cold when I am going to bed. I usually go to bed with wet hair and styling my hair in the morning was rough.
2. I have not been piling on the blankets when I go to sleep. Instead I have been using one blanket that is a little heavier and I keep my feet under my sheet and other blanket on my bed.
3. The pillow I have been using is not really stuffed, if that makes sense. I have two really puffy pillows and one flater pillow. This has made all the difference especially since I usually end up sleeping on my stomach.
4. I have been using a sleep calculator to help me figure out the best time to wake up. This one, has been really helpful. I find that when I wake up not during the middle of my sleep cycle, I feel more rested.
5. This sounds silly but I have been sleeping with my childhood teddy bear. I don’t know what it is about him but I hug him and I fall asleep quickly, I stay asleep and I don’t move. Maybe its a coincidence but Im chalking it up as a win. To support my viewpoint on sleeping with a teddy bear, The Brussels Times wrote a short article on this.
Now on to being more focused at work. This has been a happy discovery since I have been struggling with staying focused for long periods of time at work.
Having my first cup of coffee on or around 6:30 AM instead of at 8:30 AM. I fee l more at ease when I get to work and I settle right down and get to work without feeling uptight; I was having my coffee when I got to work at 8:30, it would take a while for me to actually get focused to start working. I am now able to work longer and stay on task better than I was before. I will have a second cup of coffee in the afternoon around 3 PM that would help me get through the rest of my work day and anything I have planned after work.
I rarely find an album that I enjoy from start to finish. Moonrise by Granger Smith is the unicorn. I found it a few weeks ago and I have played this through multiple times; not skipping one track. It’s that good. I believe Granger Smith was filming a movie by the same name and the director asked him to write some songs; one thing turned into another and he had a whole new album that he wasn’t even planning on writing. I love how things work out in the best way possible.

I'm starting to dry my hair before bed too and that makes such a huge difference in how I sleep. We made lunch bag snowflakes too with my boys and I LOVED them (we even managed to find white lunch bags one year!).
I have been trying to optimize my sleep as well. I have a Sleep Number bed so it tells me how well I have been sleeping or not LOL. I have been trying to go to bed at the suggested times and have been limiting caffeine to only before lunch; those days I tend to sleep much better. I love your snowflake office decor!!
